TCGplayer is back with another Black Friday event this year, and this one is absolutely worth a closer look. The promotion runs from November 28 at 9:00 AM ET through December 1 at 11:00 PM ET, giving you plenty of time to stock up on some of the best Pokémon cards for the holiday season. Every purchase earns 10% back in store credit, while TCGplayer subscribers receive 13% back, plus an additional 1–3% loyalty bonus on top.
Just to clarify, this promotion gives you store credit for future purchases, not an instant discount at checkout. That said, it lands at a perfect moment for the Pokémon TCG hobby, with many top-tier chase cards and promo cards currently well off their peak prices. With that in mind, here are 10 awesome Pokémon cards to consider during the TCGplayer Black Friday event!
Bulbasaur #133/132 Mega Evolution Stamped Enhanced Box Topper Promo
Box Topper PromoBulbasaur #133/132 Mega Evolution Stamped Enhanced Box Topper Promo
Box Topper PromoThe Bulbasaur #133 stamped promo comes as a box topper in the Enhanced version of the Mega Evolution booster box. This is the 2nd time we have seen a box topper in the English Pokemon TCG in recent memory, with Journey Together receiving the N’s Reshiram promo.
The Bulbasaur promo was within the $30-$40 range the first week after release, but after multiple waves of Mega Evolution, it is currently sitting around the $18 price point with steady demand supporting the card. We would not be surprised to see this Gen-1 favorite promo perform well as Mega Evolution print waves come to an end.
Victini #208 SVP Black Star Promo
Collection Box PromoVictini #208 SVP Black Star Promo
Collection Box PromoThis full-art style card feels like a no-brainer at the current prices, coming in around $8 after sitting in the $12-$17 range for a number of weeks. This Victini promo comes inside the Black Bolt & White Flare Victini Illustration Collection, which despite a decent sized print run, still goes for around $50 on the secondary market.
This Victini promo is reminiscent of cards like the Kingdra ex #131, which also came from a special illustration collection box. Both of these cards feature beautiful illustrations of popular Pokemon, though there is a tremendous gap in their value, from $8 for the Victini, to $60+ for the Kingdra promo.
Eevee ex #174 Prismatic Evolutions SPC SVP Black Star Promo
SPC Box PromoEevee ex #174 Prismatic Evolutions SPC SVP Black Star Promo
SPC Box PromoThe Eevee ex #174 promo comes from the Prismatic Evolutions SPC, a high-end specialty box currently selling for around $250, while the promo itself sits at about $30. Just a couple of months ago, this card peaked near $55, and although the price has cooled off since then, demand has stayed consistently strong.
Demand for this card is further boosted by the fact that Prismatic Evolutions is widely regarded as one of the best Scarlet & Violet sets among collectors. With the promo locked behind a premium box, it wouldn’t be surprising if it becomes increasingly difficult to pick up at a reasonable price over time.
Shining Fates & Vivid Voltage Amazing Rares
Amazing Rare RarityShining Fates & Vivid Voltage Amazing Rares
Amazing Rare RarityWe’re going to stretch the rules a bit and list 9 cards as our #4. Amazing Rares were a special rarity that debuted in Vivid Voltage and continued in Shining Fates. Between the 2 sets, there are 9 Amazing Rare cards to collect, which just so happens to be the perfect number to fit in a 9-card binder page.
These cards are wildly inexpensive to collect, with the full set costing only around $40. The full list of Amazing Rares includes Rayquaza ($12), Jirachi ($5), Celebi ($5), Raikou ($4), Zacian ($2), Zamazenta ($2), Kyogre ($2), Reshiram ($2), and Yveltal ($1). Not a bad deal to fill out a full binder page with some fan-favorite legendary Pokemon.
Charizard ex #199 Special Illustration Rare from Pokemon-151
SIRCharizard ex #199 Special Illustration Rare from Pokemon-151
SIRThe Charizard ex #199 SIR is one of the most tranquil Charizard cards we have ever seen. Pokemon-151, as the name suggests, is a Kanto-based Pokemon card set from the Scarlet & Violet era, and the first ever set to feature all original 151 Pokemon. All of the starter Pokemon in 151 have their own artwork themes, making it possible to build out a 9-card page of IRs and SIRs featuring each evolution line.
The Charizard ex #199 has seen a decent correction in price over the past few months, falling from a high around $310 to around $250 currently. For what is easily one of the most iconic Pokemon of all time, featured in one of the hottest sets of Scarlet & Violet, we see plenty of reason to be optimistic about this cards price in the future.
Black Bolt & White Flare BWRs
BWRBlack Bolt & White Flare BWRs
BWRSince we already broke the rule of 1 card per entry, let’s take a look at the Black & White Rares in Black Bolt & White Flare. These are the highest rarity cards found in the entire Scarlet & Violet era, with an estimated 1 per 500 packs. If you want to pull a specific one of the 3, then we are talking about 1 per 1,500 packs.
You can find Zekrom in Black Bolt and Reshiram in White Flare. As for the Victini, you can find that card in either set, though Black Bolt is numbered #171 and White Flare is numbered #172. We suspect the exceptionally difficult pull rates for these cards will help them remain desirable well into the future.
Mega Charizard X ex #125 Special Illustration Rare from Phantasmal Flames
SIRMega Charizard X ex #125 Special Illustration Rare from Phantasmal Flames
SIRWe should start this one off with a massive caveat: As the top chase card of a brand new set, we can’t be sure how supply and demand may play a part in determining short- and long-term pricing for this card. That said, This card has seen a dramatic decrease in price, from around $1,000 at release to $600 currently. There will continue to be plenty opened in the coming months, so be aware of that when evaluating the price.
This Mega Charizard X ex artwork really stands out compared to Charizard cards in recent memory. The SIR full-art style features the full Charizard evolution line, including Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, and Mega Charizard X ex. The fact that Danciao was able to get the full line featured in this card without it seeming overcrowded is astounding. This artist is quickly becoming one of the top artists of the TCG, with highly notable cards including the Zekrom ex SIR from Black Bolt, and the upcoming Mega Gengar ex SIR from Ascended Heroes.
Mew ex #053 Pokemon-151 UPC SVP Black Star Promo
UPC PromoMew ex #053 Pokemon-151 UPC SVP Black Star Promo
UPC PromoNow seems like a great time to take a step back from the high-end chases from recent sets and look at a more affordable option. The Mew ex #053 was a promo found in the Pokemon-151 Ultra Premium Collection box, alongside the gold metal Mew #205 and the Mewtwo #052 black star promo.
While any of the promos from this box would be great pick ups, the Mew ex #053 has stood out to most collectors as the most desirable card of the 3. This is partly due to the card being included in the Japanese Pokemon-151, where it is currently the 3rd most expensive card you can pull from the set. The card was excluded from the English release of Pokemon-151.
Pikachu #225 World Championship 2025 SVP Black Star Promo
Black Star PromoPikachu #225 World Championship 2025 SVP Black Star Promo
Black Star PromoFor a very affordable option, we recommend taking a look at the Pikachu #225 World Championship promo. Once pushing $15, these have recently dropped to around $6. This special card was given out for free to celebrate the 2025 World Championships in Anaheim, California, making it a fun piece of event history as well as a budget-friendly pickup.
Similar promos, like the 2024 World Championships card, are selling for around $20 on the secondary market. That price gap leaves plenty of room for potential growth, with relatively limited downside when you’re able to grab the 2025 Pikachu promo in the mid–single digits.
Snorlax #051 Pokemon-151 ETB SVP Black Star Promo
ETB PromoSnorlax #051 Pokemon-151 ETB SVP Black Star Promo
ETB PromoThe last card we are recommending is the Snorlax #051 promo from the Pokemon-151 Elite Trainer Box. While there are certainly many of these printed, the increasing cost and dwindling supply of the ETB is sure to make these harder to come by in the near future. These ETBs are already over $350, well beyond a reasonable price to pull the card the old-fashioned way.
It also can’t be overstated how much the collector base loves Snorlax. As a gen-1 favorite, we can look to cards like 1st Edition Holo Jungle Snorlax, or the Full Art Eevee & Snorlax GX from Team Up to see the Pokemon has little trouble reaching a premium. We figure the time to affordably stock up on the Snorlax promo from 151 is running out, and the TCG Player Black Friday event could be the perfect time to grab yours.
