On March 19, 2021 the Pokemon Company officially launched their newest TCG set titled Battle Styles. Although product is becoming increasingly difficult to come by in stores due to the current scalping situation, Battle Styles came out in full-force, with many collectors and TCG players finding ways to source the new set, either by lucking out in stores or placing pre-orders online at (an ever increasing) number of small shops that carry Pokemon Cards. While Battle Styles was presumably geared more towards the card game because of the Rapid Strike and Single Strike mechanics, collectors soon discovered that Battle Styles had some very desirable Alternate Art chase cards. Because of interest from both collectors and TCG players, this set has seen a lot of success in 2021. Today we will be going over the top 10 most valuable Pokemon cards from Battle Styles - Make sure to bookmark this post for when you decide to rip some packs!

Single Strike Urshifu VMAX #167 Secret Rare is currently valued around $9.26 at the time of writing.

If the theme of Battle Styles is TCG-centered mechanics, then the mascot is definitely Urshifu. Urshifu is a new Fighting-type Legendary Pokemon that was introduced in Generation 8 in Sword and Shield. Urshifu can be found 12 times in this set in a wide variety of styles and rarities.

Perhaps it goes without saying, but with so many Urshifu cards featured in Battle Styles you can definitely bet this won't be the only time this Pokemon is featured on our top 10 most expensive Battle Styles cards list.

Corviknight VMAX #171 Secret Rare is currently valued around $9.41 at the time of writing.

Up at #9 we have the Rainbow Secret Rare Corviknight VMAX #171. It's the second Rainbow Rare to make the list, but with all the Alternate Arts to choose from in this set, it's also the last Rainbow Rare to be featured.

When we initially reviewed the top 10 most expensive cards from Battle Styles, this card didn’t make the cut. However, as more collectors have grown to appreciate the Rainbow Secret Rares from the Sword and Shield era, these cards have increasingly appeared on our lists. For a new and unique Pokemon like Corviknight, we're happy to see it.

Phoebe #161 Ultra Rare is currently valued around $11.38 at the time of writing.

Phoebe is a more old-school character from the Pokemon world, having been introduced first in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire in Japan back in 2002 and in North America in early 2003. Phoebe is a member of the Hoenn Elite Four, and though her outfit may lead you to believe she specializes in Water Pokemon, she is actually a Ghost-type Trainer.

Phoebe is featured 3 times in Battle Styles, once as a regular Holo, once as a Full Art Ultra-Rare, and once as a (Spoiler-Alert) Rainbow Secret Rare. The beautiful detail and full design of this card has lead the Phoebe Full Art and Rainbow Rare versions to fetch a premium price amongst collectors.

Rapid Strike Urshifu V #153 Ultra Rare is currently valued around $14.2 at the time of writing.

At #7 we have the Rapid Strike Urshifu V #153 Alternate Art. It's the second time Urshifu makes the list, and the first time we see an Alternate Art.

This is a very cool card, showcasing Urshifu balancing in a fighting stance, surrounded by swirled blue color representing the calm flow of water. This matches the rapid, yet agile style portrayed by Urshifu in the artwork. We think Ryota Murayama knocked this card out of the park.

#6. Houndoom #179 Secret Rare

Houndoom #179 Secret Rare is currently valued around $14.99 at the time of writing.

At #6 we have the Gold Secret Rare Houndoom #179. While there are several other Gold Secret Rares available in Battle-Styles, this is surprisingly the only one to land on our top 10!

Houndoom was first introduced in Generation 2 in Pokemon Gold and Silver in 1999 in Japan and 2000 in North America and is the evolved form of Houndour. Houndoom has always been a popular Pokemon and this Gold Secret Rare version from Battle Styles is highly sought-after.

Single Strike Urshifu V #151 Ultra Rare is currently valued around $17.38 at the time of writing.

Just as the artwork for Rapid Strike Urshifu V matches a quick and agile fighting style, the artwork for Single Strike Urshifu shows clear indication of a single strike. You know, with the giant boulder he is holding over his head.

Alternate Arts allow the illustrator to have some creative liberty in the design of the artwork, using the environment and the entire space of the card to bring a scene to life. The power captured in the Single Strike Urshifu #151 Alternate Art is a great example of this.

#4. Empoleon V #146 Ultra Rare

Alternate Art cards have been a big hit in the past, particularly in the Pokemon Team Up set. They can be found as promos (a prominent example being the Rayquaza GX 177a featured in the Hidden Fates Ultra-Premium collection) and as regular cards in the set. Battle Styles is the first Sword and Shield set to feature Alternate-Art style cards.

At #4 on our list we have the Rapid-Strike Empoleon Alternate Full Art card. Empoleon was introduced in Generation 4 as the fully evolved form of Piplup. Battle Styles features 6 Alternate-Art cards, all of which can sell for a premium. No matter what Alternate-Art Pokemon card you pull in Battle Styles, you can be sure it's a good hit.

Surely you recognize this guy by now. Urshifu once again makes our list at #3 in his Single Strike VMAX form - So what makes this different from the previous Urshifu cards? Like #4 on our list, the value of this Urshifu comes from the fact that it is a popular Alternate-art card, as well as a Secret Rare.

This Single Strike version of Urshifu has G-Max One Blow which discards all Energy cards from Urshifu and deals 270 damage to the opponent's Pokemon. The attack isn't affected by any effects on their active Pokemon.

#2. Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX #170 Secret Rare

Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX #170 Secret Rare is currently valued around $62.06 at the time of writing.

As the 2nd most expensive card from Battle Styles, the Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX #170 is a big hitter. With how often Urshifu has been featured on this list, it is likely no surprise to find him once again in the Alternate Art Secret Rare form near the top of the list.

If Tyranitar V Alternate Art showcases the most unique design, then Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX Alternate Art definitely showcases the most stunning design. This card doesn't waste any space, depicting Urshifu in an impressive display of VMAX strength and filling the card in true Full Art fashion. If you look really close you can also find a number of Pokemon featured on the card, having been caught in Urshifu's attack.

Tyranitar V #155 Ultra Rare is currently valued around $143.15 at the time of writing.

At #1 we have a massive step-up in value. Ever since day 1 of Battle Styles this card has been the number one chase card for most of the community. This Tyranitar V Alternate Art card fetches more than double the value of #2 and it's easy to see why this card has left such an impact on the collecting community.

The design of the Tyranitar V Alternate Art is extremely unique and highly collectible. it showcases a passed-out Tyranitar clearly having consumed too much food. Behind a nearby tree you can see a Pignite hiding, taking stock of the situation. This card is a clear step-up in style and design from much of the rest of the set.
