The Hobby Bin Staff |

Are you counting down the days until the January 17 release of the highly anticipated Prismatic Evolutions? If patience isn’t your strong suit, you’re in luck—its Japanese counterpart, Terastal Festival ex, launched on December 6 and offers a sneak peek at many of the stunning cards expected to be the top chase cards in Prismatic Evolutions.

With its captivating focus on Eeveelutions, Terastal Festival ex has quickly become a fan-favorite set, drawing widespread excitement among collectors and fans of the TCG. In this article, we’re diving into the top 10 most expensive Pokemon cards from Terastal Festival ex, showcasing some of the best cards from the set.

#10. Eevee Master Ball Reverse Holo #125

Eevee Master Ball Reverse Holo #125 is currently valued around $53 at the time of writing.

Terastal Festival ex brings back Master Ball reverse holos which will also be found in the English counterpart Prismatic Evolutions. Master Ball reverse holos were a massive success in Pokemon-151, so it is not surprising to find them among the best chase cards from Terastal Festival ex.

The 10th most expensive card from Terastal Festival ex is the Eevee Master Ball reverse holo #125. Considering Master Ball reverse holos are not guaranteed hits in Terastal Festival booster boxes, you can imagine how difficult and expensive it is to pull any one specific Master ball reverse holo. Early estimations put the Master Ball reverse holo pull in around 1 in 25 booster packs.

#9. Espeon Master Ball Reverse Holo #62

Espeon Master Ball Reverse Holo #62 is currently valued around $54 at the time of writing.

The Espeon Master Ball reverse holo is the 9th most expensive card from Terastal Festival ex, and the next Master Ball Eeveelution to make the list. The Espeon #62 artwork is done by Kariya, a newer Pokemon TCG artist that started illustrating around the time of Obsidian Flames.

There are 9 total Eeveelutions when you include Eevee, and collectors frequently value Espeon cards above some of its Eeveelution counterparts. Still, 2 more Eeveelution Master Ball reverse holos make the top 10 list above Espeon. One may be obvious, but what about the other?

Eevee ex Special Art Rare #224 is currently valued around $55 at the time of writing.

The Eevee ex Special Art Rare #224 is currently the 8th most expensive card from Terastal Festival ex. This card features Eevee seemingly placed over a bowl full of diverse fruits. I'd say more about this, but I'm at a slight loss of words as to how to describe it further. Maybe the fruit represents the different Eeveelutions? It's hard to say, since the colors don't necessarily match that explanation.

As it turns out, this card was illustrated by a brand new artist for the Pokemon TCG named Natsuko Shinji ete. Illustrating the 8th most expensive card in a set absolutely packed with big hitters is a great way to make an introduction, and we look forward to seeing what else the artist comes up with in the future.

The next Eeveelution to make the list of the most expensive Pokemon cards from Terastal Festival ex is the Glaceon ex SAR #206. Glaceon is no stranger to these lists, with standouts like the Glaceon VMAX #209 Alternate Art from Evolving Skies, or the Glaceon VSTAR #GG40 from Crown Zenith.

This is a fairly simple design compared to other popular Glaceon cards, somewhat resembling an aesthetic more in the style of Full Art cards. This card was illustrated by Kamome Shirahama, another newer Pokemon TCG artist who joined around the time of Surging Sparks.

#6. Pikachu ex Gold Ultra Rare #236

Pikachu ex Gold Ultra Rare #236 is currently valued around $58 at the time of writing.

We have absolutely no idea why this Pikachu is included in Terastal Festival ex after just getting the Pikachu themed set Super Electric Breaker (or Surging Sparks in English). There was even a Gold Secret Rare Pikachu in those sets that looks an awful lot like this one. Coincidentally, it was done by the same artist.

The Pikachu ex #236 Gold Ultra Rare card is the 6th most expensive card from Terastal Festival ex. It is of course no surprise that a gold Pikachu card would rank so highly on this list (like it did in Surging Sparks). Who knows, maybe Pokemon cracked the code and we will be getting a Gold Pikachu in every set going forward.

#5. Espeon ex Special Art Rare #211

Espeon ex Special Art Rare #211 is currently valued around $60 at the time of writing.

The Espeon ex SAR #211 is the 5th most expensive card from Terastal Festival ex, and definitely one of the most eye catching cards from the set. Espeon is featured surrounded by plants with crystals beneath its feet. Despite this artwork being nearly monochromatic, Espeon manages to stand out brilliantly, which is a testament to Sui's skills as an artist.

Sui is a long-time artist for the Pokemon TCG that has been active since around the time of HeartGold SoulSilver. They have contributed just under 200 cards at the time of writing, with some standouts being the Sylveon VMAX #TG15 from Brilliant Stars, the Mewtwo & Mew #SM191, and the Sylveon EX #RC21 from Generations. This Espeon SAR will undoubtedly go down as one of their best artworks to date.

#4. Sylveon Master Ball Reverse Holo #68

Sylveon Master Ball Reverse Holo #68 is currently valued around $82 at the time of writing.

Taking the #4 spot on our list of the most expensive cards from Terastal Festival is another coveted Master Ball reverse holo. These cards, known for their incredible rarity and difficulty to pull, have become highly collectible. Featuring Sylveon, a fan-favorite Pokémon, this card continues to spark strong interest among collectors, further solidifying its place as a standout in the set.

With a pull rate of only about 1 in 25 booster packs, any one Master Ball reverse holo is exceptionally difficult to acquire by opening packs. Because of this, the most desirable Master Ball reverse holos will continue to hold massive premiums for the foreseeable future. In fact, even the Japanese Pokemon-151 set has 2 Master Ball reverse holos as the top 2 most expensive cards in the set above the Charizard ex #201 SAR.

#3. Sylveon ex Special Art Rare #212

Sylveon ex Special Art Rare #212 is currently valued around $105 at the time of writing.

The 3rd most expensive card from Terastal Festival ex, and one of the top chase cards of the set, is the Sylveon ex Special Art Rare #212. This card has a decent premium over the most recent SAR at #5, showing a clear collector preference for Sylveon over all but one of the Eeveelutions. This is true in other sets as well, such as the Sylveon GX #SV76 Full Art Shiny from Hidden Fates.

The Sylveon ex Special Art Rare is one of the most vibrant and colorful cards from Terastal Festival ex and would be one of the best and most exciting pulls you could get in your booster pack. Still, the cards at #2 and #1 absolutely blow this card and every other card out of the water when it comes to value.

#2. Umbreon ex Special Art Rare #217

Umbreon ex Special Art Rare #217 is currently valued around $280 at the time of writing.

Coined the Moonbreon 2.0, this Umbreon ex Special Art Rare is the most expensive SAR from the set. After the success of Umbreon VMAX #215 from Evolving Skies, it is absolutely no wonder why this card would reach such a high premium. To be frank, there is still a lot of room between the value of this card and the Evolving Skies Moonbreon, so it will be interesting to see how this card changes in value over time.

This card is visually stunning and probably the most intricate design of the set. It is a bit reminiscent of Shinji Kanda's Giratina V from Lost Origin, though this card is done by a new artist by the name of Yashiro Nanaco. This is only their second illustration since they made their debut in Surging Sparks, so we can expect great things from them in the future I am sure.

#1. Umbreon Master Ball Reverse Holo #92

Umbreon Master Ball Reverse Holo #92 is currently valued around $338 at the time of writing.

With about 100 Master Ball reverse holos to pull from the set, and a pull rate of around 1 in 25 booster packs, this means the odds of pulling the Umbreon Master Ball reverse holo #92 from Terastal Festival ex is about 1/2500 from a single booster pack. This really puts into perspective why this card is currently the most expensive Pokemon card in Terastal Festival ex.

Other than the rarity of the pull, Umbreon is easily among the most popular and collectible Pokemon in the TCG, right alongside favorites such as Charizard and Pikachu. The Moonbreon from Evolving Skies is of course an example of this, but it is hardly the first Umbreon to gain significant premiums. The original Gold Star Umbreon from Pop Series 5, for example, can reach over $10,000 in a PSA 10. The true OG Moonbreon from Neo Discovery as a 1st edition in a PSA 10 can reach over $5,000.

The Master Ball reverse holo cards, particularly the Umbreon, will be interesting to watch as the set ages. Although modern sets are printed in such large quantity, the extreme rarity of these cards will undoubtedly have a massive impact on their value. Whereas vintage chase cards were far more plentiful, they have a condition rarity today that drives much of their value in high grade. We suspect there could be significant premium waiting for cards like these in the future.
