With Sword & Shield era booster boxes recently climbing in value pretty much across the board, some collectors and Pokemon TCG enthusiasts may be looking for more affordable pack ripping options. We decided to take a look at the Silver Tempest Build & Battle Stadium box to determine if this might be a good option to save money on booster packs.
What Cards are in Silver Tempest?
First, let's take a look at Silver Tempest to see some of the best cards that can be pulled.
The most expensive card in Silver Tempest is the Alternate Art Lugia V Ultra Rare. At the time of writing, this card is hovering around the $210 price range, with a notable 75% increase in price in the first half of 2024 alone.
In addition to the Lugia V, there are 3 other Alternate Art cards in Silver Tempest, including Regidrago V, Unown V, and Skuntank V. These cards fall in the $5 - $15 range at the time of writing. Any individual Alternate Art card from Silver Tempest is exceptionally difficult to pull, with the estimated pull rate being around 1 in 700 packs, or 1 in 150 that you would pull any of the 4.

Silver Tempest also contains 22 Secret Rare cards including big hitters like Lugia VStar and Rayquaza, and a Trainer gallery sub set of 30 cards that can be randomly inserted into the reverse holo slot. You have around 1 in 100 chance to pull any gold or rainbow rare, and around 1 in 8 chance to pull a Trainer Gallery card from any pack.
Because the Trainer Gallery cards are found in the Reverse Holo slot, this means you can pull 2 chase cards in a single pack. This adds a lot of pack opening value to the set, making it one of the more fun sets to open. You could, in theory, pull the biggest chase card of the set (Lugia V #186) as well as the second biggest chase card of the set (Rayquaza VMAX #TG20) in the same booster pack.

Although individual cards may be difficult to pull, there are so many good cards in Silver Tempest that your odds of having a pack containing an Ultra Rare, Secret Rare, or Trainer Gallery card, is around 30%. In other words, about 1 out of 3 packs in Silver Tempest contain hits. Because the Silver Tempest Build & Battle Stadium contains 12 booster packs, your box should have, on average, 4 hits.
How Much is the Silver Tempest Build & Battle Stadium Worth?
The Build & Battle Stadium for Silver Tempest has an MSRP of $59.99, though the product has historically been available at lower prices on the secondary market. At present time, there are several sellers on eBay who are offering the Silver Tempest Build & Battle stadium for around $35.
Comparing this to a Silver Tempest booster box which is around $135 currently on eBay, this means your pack price is around $3 per pack, vs. $3.75 per pack when you open a booster box.
What Comes in the Silver Tempest Build & Battle Stadium?
The Build & Battle Stadium contains a total of 12 booster packs, in addition to several other goodies for the Trading Card Game:
- 4 Loose Booster Packs
- 2 Build & Battle Boxes (4 Booster Packs each + 1 Pre-Release promo each)
- Energy Brick
- Dice + Damage Counters
- The card box and deck boxes for storage
This makes the Battle Stadium a great option for maximizing pack value, but also provides the necessary items for someone who wants to play the TCG.
Is the Silver Tempest Build & Battle Stadium Worth it?
While this is completely subjective, there are definitely a few compelling reasons why the Build & Battle Stadium box for Silver Tempest could be worth it right now. Let's cover these reasons and find out if this product is right for your purpose:
At the time of writing, there are quite a few sellers of this product on the secondary market. Because of this increased competition, the price point for this product is pretty attractive. As mentioned before, you are getting the booster packs for around $3/pack. This doesn't even include the bonus accessories.
If the Build & Battle Stadium is intended for a TCG player, they will get the extra components like the dice and damage counters. If it is intended for a collector, they can use the storage box and the deck boxes to hold their cards. If it is intended for an investor or sealed collector, it is an appealing display piece for any collection, and may climb in value if the booster packs go up in value over time.

Be sure to check with reputable dealers only!
Sword & Shield sets will become increasingly difficult to collect for as we move well into the Scarlet & Violet era. There is a strong possibility that Silver Tempest, having been released in 2022, may soon become more difficult to find and open. If you aim to enjoy some of these sets before they eventually become more obscure, it may be a good idea to look for the affordable options while they are available.
Where Can I Buy the Silver Tempest Build & Battle Stadium?
The best deals we can find currently are on eBay. Because many sellers have larger allocations of this product, some larger sellers are making these available in bundle deals. At the time of writing, we can find these for around $33/box when purchasing in bulk.
You can also find the box available on Amazon for around the $40 mark, though we do not typically recommend Amazon for Pokemon purchases. Because sellers may comingle their inventory at Amazon warehouses, it is much easier for fraudulent sellers to sell inauthentic products to unsuspecting customers. When shopping through Amazon, make sure you select a trusted seller, ideally that ships their own orders.
Final Thoughts
The Silver Tempest Build & Battle Stadium box is currently available through reputable sellers at a discounted rate compared to MSRP. This set will hit 2 years old in November, and while there is currently plenty of inventory, we can't be sure how long the Stadium box will be available to purchase. If Silver Tempest is a set you would like to open, this could be a good way to source the packs. Since you can purchase 3 of these for around $100 and receive 36 packs plus bonus accessories, many customers may find this a better option than purchasing a booster box. The set is loaded with cool cards, and has a decent hit-rate with a Trainer Gallery subset.
We opened a Build & Battle Stadium for this article, and while we did not manage to hit one of the top cards in the set, we definitely hit the expected hit rate with several ultra rares, a full art Alolan Vulpix V, and a Radiant Jirachi. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on the box, and if you are opening one, we'd love to know what hits you find in the comments below!
