The release date of January 17th for Prismatic Evolutions is fast approaching, and the excitement surrounding this highly anticipated set shows no signs of slowing down. On the Japanese side, Terastal Festival ex has seen a meteoric rise in popularity, with booster boxes skyrocketing in value on the secondary market. With Eeveelution cards making their return, Master Ball reverse holos coming to English, and the global community buzzing with anticipation, Prismatic Evolutions is poised to cement its place as one of the most memorable sets in recent history.
Today, we are taking a look at what are likely to be some of the top pulls from Prismatic Evolutions based on the performance of cards from Terastal Festival ex. Once we receive more pricing data on the English side, this article will be updated to reflect English cards and prices. Notably, we won't be receiving the exact same Master Ball reverse holo Eeveelutions as Japan, so this list only reflects the Master Ball cards we have pricing comparisons for. We can fully expect cards like the Sylveon Master Ball reverse holo to make this list in the future based on the Japanese side.
Here are the top 10 most expensive cards for Prismatic Evolutions based on what we know so far:
#10. Vaporeon ex Special Art Rare #205
Vaporeon ex #205Special Art Rare Check eBayCheck Amazon |
|
Vaporeon ex Special Art Rare #205 is currently valued around $51 at the time of writing. |
The Vaporeon ex Special Art Rare #205 is one of the top chase cards from Terastal Festival ex, so we can expect the Vaporeon ex Special Illustration Rare on the English side to be one of the most expensive cards in Prismatic Evolutions. That said, we have seen the OG 3 Eeveelutions take a bit of a back seat to some of the later introductions in the Eeveelution line, so we will likely see the same thing for Prismatic Evolutions.
#9. Leafeon ex Special Art Rare #200

|
Leafeon ex Special Art Rare #200 is currently valued around $51 at the time of writing. |
The Leafeon ex SIR is also likely to be one of the most expensive cards in Prismatic Evolutions. Taking a look at Evolving Skies, the Leafeon VMAX #205 Alternate Art is actually the third most expensive card in the set only behind Umbreon and Rayquaza, outpacing popular Eeveelutions VMAX Alternate Arts like Glaceon and Sylveon. In Terastal Festival, Leafeon doesn't currently make the top 10 most expensive list. Could we see something different on the English side?
#8. Espeon Master Ball Reverse Holo #62
Espeon #62Master Ball Reverse Holo Check eBayCheck Amazon |
|
Espeon Master Ball Reverse Holo #62 is currently valued around $51 at the time of writing. |
Just like in Terastal Festival ex, we can fully expect the Master Ball reverse holo cards in Prismatic Evolutions to be some of the best pulls of the set. With a pull rate of only around 1/25 packs on the Japanese side, and with around 100 Master Ball reverse holos to pull, that means the pull rate for any individual card is around 1/2,500. Most Master Ball reverse holos will hold a premium, but for a select few popular Pokemon, they are sure to be contenders for the most expensive cards in Prismatic Evolutions. Espeon has long been a popular Eeveelution, and a card like the Espeon VMAX #270 Alternate Art from Fusion Strike is easily one of the most valuable cards from that set.
#7. Eevee Master Ball Reverse Holo #125

|
Eevee Master Ball Reverse Holo #125 is currently valued around $53 at the time of writing. |
Eevee is also getting a Master Ball reverse holo. The popularity of Eevee as the pre-evolved form of the Eeveelutions makes it likely that this card will be one of the best cards from Prismatic Evolutions. Because the rest of the Eeveelutions outside of Eevee, Umbreon, and Espeon will be different prints in Prismatic Evolutions, we don't actually have pricing data to point to for the other Pokemon. Still, we can absolutely expect to see the English Sylveon Master Ball to be high on this list based on the Japanese side.
#6. Espeon ex Special Art Rare #211

|
Espeon ex Special Art Rare #211 is currently valued around $54 at the time of writing. |
Espeon is likely to make the Prismatic Evolutions top 10 list in both Master Ball form and Special Illustration Rare form. This visually stunning card showcases Espeon in a nearly monochromatic artwork, yet somehow the Pokemon still manages to pop and stand out from the background. Espeon is surrounded by flowers and crystals in this outstanding artwork by longtime Pokemon TCG artist, Sui.
#5. Pikachu ex Gold Ultra Rare #236

Pikachu ex Gold Ultra Rare #236 is currently valued around $54 at the time of writing. |
We still cannot be entirely sure why they decided to give us a gold Pikachu in Prismatic Evolutions right after the release of the Pikachu themed set Surging Sparks. Still, if any Pokemon is a likely contendor for the top 10 outside of the Eeveelutions, it would certainly be Pikachu. This is the same artist that brought us the nearly identical Pikachu artworks in Surging Sparks, and we fully expect it to be a top chase card for Prismatic Evolutions.
#4. Glaceon ex Special Art Rare #206

|
Glaceon ex Special Art Rare #206 is currently valued around $55 at the time of writing. |
The Glaceon ex Special Illustration Rare is likely to be another high value card in Prismatic Evolutions, though if you look at the price range between #10 and #4 on this list, you will see that it's still anyone's guess how these cards will rank in English. If we take a look at Evolving Skies, we can see Glaceon VMAX #209 is currently the 4th most expensive card behind Umbreon, Rayquaza, and Leafeon. That said, Terastal Festival shows a big preference for the Sylveon ex Special Art Rare over the other Eeveelutions outside of Umbreon.
#3. Sylveon ex Special Art Rare #212

|
Sylveon ex Special Art Rare #212 is currently valued around $99 at the time of writing. |
There is a very notable price jump between the other Eeveelution SARs featured on this list so far and the Sylveon ex at #3. If we take a look at Eevee Heroes on the Japanese side, we can actually see that there is a preference for the Sylveon Alternate Art card above the Leafeon and Glaceon, even though we see the opposite in Evolving Skies in English. It will be interesting to see where Sylveon falls in Prismatic Evolutions over time, though we definitely expect initial prices to place Sylveon higher than the others.
#2. Umbreon ex Special Art Rare #217

Umbreon ex Special Art Rare #217 is currently valued around $285 at the time of writing. |
Moonbreon 2.0 will of course be on everyone's radar at release. The market is going to go absolutely crazy trying to source and grade this card, and we will likely see some early plays with PSA, BGS, and CGC paying off massively in high grades just like we saw with the Surging Sparks Pikachu Special Illustration Rare. Be aware that those early plays carry a lot of risk, and we typically see a race to the bottom when graded returns start coming in. However, as seen clearly with the original Moonbreon from Evolving Skies, there is always a chance this card breaks the trend and shatters expectations.
#1. Umbreon Master Ball Reverse Holo #92
Umbreon #92Master Ball Reverse Holo Check eBayCheck Amazon |
|
Umbreon Master Ball Reverse Holo #92 is currently valued around $329 at the time of writing. |
The Special Illustration Rare Umbreon and the Master Ball reverse holo Umbreon will undoubtedly be the two most expensive cards in Prismatic Evolutions, though we cannot confidently say which card will take the #1 spot. On the Japanese side in Terastal Festival ex, the Master Ball reverse holo is currently the more expensive of the two, due in large part to the overwhelming difficulty to pull this card. Additionally, Prismatic Evolutions is the first English set to get Master Ball reverse holos which adds historical significance to this card. Will the legacy of the Moonbreon be enough to overthrow the Master Ball Umbreon in Prismatic Evolutions? We can't wait to find out!
