We’re rapidly approaching the end of the Scarlet & Violet era, and with it, the beginning of something new. What comes next isn’t entirely clear—whether we’re entering a long, multi-set block like Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet, or a shorter, more focused run centered around Mega Pokémon. What we do know is that the first set in this new chapter will be called Mega Evolution.
Mega Evolution, set to release in English on September 26, 2025, has already been fully unveiled in Japan through the twin sets Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia. For collectors, the return of Mega Pokémon is a welcome revival—offering a chance to revisit fan favorites they may have missed and discover entirely new Mega Evolutions making their debut in the TCG.

These cards feature a striking full-gold design, and early Japanese prices suggest they’re outperforming even the popular SAR cards. After the debut of BWRs in Black Bolt & White Flare, fans were curious about the next evolution of high-rarity cards—and now we’re starting to get answers. Here’s everything we know so far about the Mega Evolution set.

Mega Evolution Set Overview
Release Date: September 26, 2025

Mega Evolution Top Chase Cards
In Japan, the new MUR gold cards are commanding top prices, with only the Lillie’s Determination SAR coming close in value. While Full Art Trainers tend to perform exceptionally well in the Japanese market, that trend doesn’t always carry over to English releases—making it likely that MURs will emerge as the top-tier chase cards in the English set. Pull rates haven’t been confirmed yet, but if they follow the pattern of BWRs, we could be looking at odds of 1 in 500 packs or even rarer.

The Top 5 Cards From Mega Brave
Mega Brave features Lucario as its mascot, and notably has the Venusaur SAR and Full Art cards. It also has Lillie's Determination which has been commanding a huge premium in Japanese over other SAR cards.
The Top 5 Cards From Mega Symphonia
There’s a clear sense of symmetry among the top cards in Mega Symphonia, with Mega Gardevoir ex MUR positioned as a counterpart to Lucario, Acerola mirroring Lillie, and popular SAR Pokémon like Latias and Kangaskhan paralleling Venusaur from Mega Brave.

What to Buy for Mega Evolution
Mega Evolution is a standard set which means it will feature booster boxes and build and battle boxes. In fact, we will be getting the Enhanced booster box again just like we saw in Journey Together.
It is currently unclear if there will be a mix of regular booster boxes and Enhanced booster boxes on the English side, or if we will just be receiving the enhanced version. The enhanced booster box will feature a Bulbasaur box topper #133 with a Mega Evolution stamp. We last saw this in Journey Together with N's Reshiram.
Black Bolt and White Flare launched with two separate Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs), a fitting choice given their dual release format. Interestingly, we can now confirm that Mega Evolution will also have two ETB designs, despite being a single set in English. The Lucario-themed box will include a Riolu promo, while the Gardevoir-themed box will feature an Alakazam promo.
As expected, Booster Bundles will be available for Mega Evolution in English, with an MSRP of $26.94, a solid value at just $4.49 per pack. If your goal is simply to open packs from the set, Booster Bundles remain one of the best options at retail pricing. Be sure to keep an eye on The Hobby Bin Discord, where we aim to share MSRP drops for all new releases as they go live.
This time around, the 3-pack blisters feature a pair of classic Gen 1 promo cards: Psyduck and Golduck. These blisters are often available at major retailers like Walmart and Target, both in-store and online, as well as through various sellers on the secondary market.
Right now it is unclear as to what the 2 other promos will be.
