Shrouded Fable launched in English in August of 2024. Shrouded Fable is a special set, which means that the Pokemon Company does not produce booster boxes for it. There are 64 cards in the main set and 35 secret rares, making 99 cards in total. We get our first look at Pecharunt in the TCG, along with the Loyal Three, Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. Dark and night are a central theme in Shrouded Fable, which becomes apparent when you see the popular cards in the set. Let's take a look at the top 10 most expensive cards from Shrouded Fable!
#10. Duskull #068 Illustration Rare

|
Duskull #068 Illustration Rare is currently valued around $19.53 at the time of writing. |
First on the list of most expensive cards from Shrouded Fable is the Duskull #068 Illustration Rare. This is the first card in a 3-card set which features Duskull, Dusclops, and Dusknoir getting closer to the viewer with every evolution. I won't lie, the Dusknoir looking in the back window at night is legitimately terrifying.
This is a bit reminiscent of when Gastly #177 took a place in the top 10 most expensive cards for Temporal Forces. It seems collectors take a liking to these spooky Pokemon in their initial forms, and in the case of this Duskull, even more so than the final form. You'll notice Dusknoir only makes the runner-ups list.
#9. Houndoom #066 Illustration Rare

|
Houndoom #066 Illustration Rare is currently valued around $23.45 at the time of writing. |
Featured at #9 of the most expensive cards from Shrouded Fable is the Houndoom #066 Illustration Rare. Houndoom is an excellent addition to this set with an amazing artwork, featuring a grayscale theme, highlighting the shadows of other Houndoom in the background. The only color visible in the artwork is the red in the eyes and the ominous streak of red coming from them.
This artwork is done by Taiga Kasai, a brand new Pokemon TCG artist who made their debut around the time of Temporal Forces. Considering Taiga Kasai only has 5 cards under their belt at the moment, a heavy-hitter like this Houndoom is a massive accomplishment. We look forward to more artwork from this talented artist.
#8. Pecharunt ex #095 Hyper Rare

|
Pecharunt ex #095 Hyper Rare is currently valued around $23.92 at the time of writing. |
We get our first look at Pecharunt in the TCG. #8 on the list of most expensive Pokemon cards from Shrouded Fable is the Pecharunt ex #095 Secret Gold Rare. Although there are 2 more gold cards in the top 10 list, this is the only Gold Secret Rare Pokemon in Shrouded Fable, so the only Gold Pokemon to make this list.
Pecharunt is a Mythical Pokémon of the Poison/Ghost type, introduced in Generation IX with The Indigo Disk expansion. It is the leader of the Loyal Three, Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti.
#7. Persian #078 Illustration Rare

Persian #078 Illustration Rare is currently valued around $24.54 at the time of writing. |
Gen-1 fans everywhere rejoice - We just got a stunning Persian card! At #7 on the list of most expensive cards from Shrouded Fable is the Persian #078 Illustration Rare. This card features a Persian sitting inside, looking out the window at the city lights at night. Anytime we see a Persian inside, we have to assume it belongs to Giovanni, just like is found in the Giovanni's Charisma #204 from Pokemon-151. These 2 cards would make excellent binder buddies.
This artwork is done by another artist that is new to the Pokemon TCG, Whisker. Whisker has illustrated only 4 cards since their introduction around the time of Pokemon-151. In fact, their first illustrated card was the Psyduck #175 from Pokemon-151, an iconic card in its own right.
#6. Pecharunt ex #093 Special Illustration Rare

|
Pecharunt ex #093 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $24.58 at the time of writing. |
Pecharunt makes another appearance in the most expensive cards from Shrouded Fable at #6, with the Pecharunt ex #093 Special Illustration Rare. This is the first appearance of a Special Illustration Rare in the top 10.
Pecharunt is inspired by the Japanese folktale of Momotarō. It mirrors the tale through its appearance and story, resembling the boy born from a peach and his adventures with a dog, monkey, and pheasant to battle an oni. Pecharunt’s peach-like shell, poisonous mochi, and ties to Shinto mythology and yōkai deepen its connection to ancient folklore, blending cultural legends with its unique design and lore.
#5. Okidogi ex #090 Special Illustration Rare

|
Okidogi ex #090 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $25.72 at the time of writing. |
Okidogi is the first of the Loyal Three to make it on the list of most expensive Shrouded Fable cards. As it turns out, only 2 of the Loyal Three are on this list, though you can find the third in the runner-ups at the bottom.
In ancient lore, Okidogi was once a much smaller and weaker Pokémon. Its desire for power led it to encounter Pecharunt, the Mythical Pokémon in need of retainers for its journey to Kitakami. Using Binding Mochi and the Toxic Chain, Pecharunt subdued Okidogi, chaining it to its will.
#4. Basic Darkness Energy #098 Hyper Rare

Basic Darkness Energy #098 Hyper Rare is currently valued around $26.21 at the time of writing. |
The next Gold Secret Rare to make the list of most expensive Shrouded Fable cards is the Gold Darkness Energy #098 Gold Secret Rare. It is one of two Gold Energy cards found in Shrouded Fable, though the only one to make the top 10. The other Gold Energy can be found in the runner-ups.
Gold Energy cards have historically done very well in terms of price, since collectors enjoy accenting their binders with them, and TCG players love to bling out their decks. Because dark decks are a staple in the TCG currently, it is no surprise that this card would be ranked so high on this list.
#3. Cassiopeia #094 Special Illustration Rare

|
Cassiopeia #094 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $51.39 at the time of writing. |
We've made it to the top 3, and for the first time we are seeing a Trainer card. Cassiopeia Special Illustration Full Art #094 is the 3rd most expensive card in Shrouded Fable at the moment. In case it wasn't obvious based on the artwork, Cassiopeia is a hacker from the Scarlet & Violet games. Early into release this was the most expensive card in the set, so we are a bit surprised to see that change.
Cassiopeia is a mysterious character in the Starfall Street storyline of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, who recruits the player for a mission known as Operation Starfall. Throughout most of the game, they remain unseen and communicate only via the player’s Rotom Phone. Their goal is to help the player take down Team Star, a group of squad bosses scattered across the region. Cassiopeia offers guidance, rewards, and reveals their true identity near the story’s end.
#2. Fezandipiti ex #092 Special Illustration Rare

|
Fezandipiti ex #092 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $57.47 at the time of writing. |
The 2nd most expensive card in Shrouded Fable is the Fezandipiti ex #092 Special Illustration Rare. Munkidori is the only one of the Loyal Three that does not make it into the top 10 list, though it is barely excluded at #12.
Fezandipiti is a bird-like Pokémon with elegant features, including a long neck, black and white plumage, and bronze accents. It has sharp claws, a crown-like crest, and Toxic Chains draped around its body. According to legend, Fezandipiti once had dull feathers but wished to become beautiful. Meeting the Mythical Pokémon Pecharunt granted its wish, transforming it with enhanced abilities and mesmerizing looks.
#1. Earthen Vessel #096 Hyper Rare

|
Earthen Vessel #096 Hyper Rare is currently valued around $61.74 at the time of writing. |
It is quite rare to find a Gold Item card at the top of these lists. Earthen Vessel Gold Secret Rare #096 is currently the most expensive card from Shrouded Fable, largely due to its use in the TCG.
The ability to add Energy cards to your hand makes this a useful card in competitive play, and ever since we got the original card in Paradox Rift, players have been making use of this strategy in their decks.
Just like with the Gold Secret Rare Energy cards, collectors also enjoy accenting their binders with these cards, sometimes making entire pages featuring different Gold Items and Energy cards. Is it surpising that a Gold Item card is #1 on this list? It is. But it's not unfounded.
