Twilight Masquerade is the sixth set of the Scarlet & Violet Series, released in May of 2024 in English. Set in the mysterious land of Kitakami, this expansion introduces Ogerpon, the Legendary Pokemon that can change form and type based on the mask it is wearing. Twilight Masquerade is regarded by many collectors to be one of the best sets we've received from the Scarlet & Violet Series so far. Today, we are taking a look at the top 10 most expensive Pokemon cards from Twilight Masquerade to see what makes this set so special.

The first card to make the list of the most expensive cards from Twilight Masquerade is the Wellspring Mask Ogerpon ex Special Illustration Rare #213. This is the first mask we see Ogerpon wear on this list, though there are 4 total masks the Legendary Pokemon uses to take different forms.

When Ogerpon changes its mask to the Wellspring mask, its type also changes to Water in its Terastallized state. All of the Special Illustration Rare Ogerpon mask cards are illustrated by Yano Keiji, an artist that has been with the Pokemon TCG since Crown Zenith. He notably did the Comfey #GG14 in Crown Zenith, and the Omanyte #180 in Pokemon 151 as well.

At #9 on the list of the most expensive cards from Twilight Masquerade is the Buddy-Buddy Poffin Gold Secret Rare #223. This card was originally released as a regular trainer in Temporal Forces, then brought back to Twilight Masquerade under the same artist (Ayumi Odashima.)

While Twilight Masquerade is loaded with 6 Gold Secret Rare cards, this is the only Gold card to be featured in the top 10, while two more can be found in the runner-ups at the bottom.

Twilight Masquerade is loaded with very cool Special Illustration Rare cards, both Trainers and Pokemon alike. This Lana's Aid #219 Special Illustration Rare comes in as the 8th most expensive card in Twilight Masquerade, and it is definitely the most relaxing and charming card of the set.

This card is illustrated by Toshinao Aoki, one of the OGs of the Pokemon TCG. Aoki started illustrating for Pokemon all the way back in Neo Revelation, and created some of the most iconic artworks of all time, including the Dragonite movie WOTC promo #5, the Surfing and Flying Pikachu WOTC promos, and the Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno from Supreme Victors.

Ogerpon makes the list of most expensive cards from Twilight Masquerade again at number 7 with the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex #211 Special Illustration Rare. Teal Mask Ogerpon is the mascot of the DLC for Scarlet & Violet, as well as featured on the booster box and booster packs of Twilight Masquerade.

When Ogerpon puts on the teal mask, he changes to pure Grass type. Since the teal mask is essentially the default mask of Ogerpon, it is perhaps not surprising that the teal mask Ogerpon would be the highest value of the Ogerpon cards. The Hearthflame and Cornerstone masks can both be found in the runner-ups, however.

The Kieran #218 Special Illustration Rare comes in at #6 on the list of most expensive Twilight Masquerade cards. Kieran is a rival from Kitakami, introduced in the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. He is Carmine's little brother.

It's no wonder why the Kieran #218 Special Illustration Rare is so pricey, with outstanding artwork by Teeziro, a talented artist that has been around since Chilling Reign. Kieran excitedly holds his candied apples, surrounded by festival goers in their Pokemon masks. Kieran has moved his teal mask to the side as he appears to be getting more festival food.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna is a unique, ancient form of Ursaluna, known for its distinctive red moon mark on its forehead. Taller, bulkier, and covered in iron-hard grey mud, it walks on two legs and possesses night vision. It resides in Kitakami's Timeless Woods, appearing rarely on foggy nights.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna gained a long lifespan and unique powers after adapting to its harsh environment. In The Teal Mask, Perrin seeks to capture its image, but accidentally startles it, leading the player to encounter, battle, and capture the elusive Bloodmoon Beast.

The Eevee #188 Illustration Rare is the 4th most expensive card in Twilight Masquerade at the moment, which is actually rather impressive since typically regular Illustration Rares don't make it this high. This is illustrated by Narumi Sato and features 8 different Eevees together inside a room.

As it turns out, Eevee has 8 potential evolutions: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. This has led to collectors speculating about which evolution each of these Eevees is meant to represent. This is a fantastic card and definitely deserves a top among the most expensive cards from Twilight Masquerade.

The third most expensive card from Twilight Masquerade is the Perrin #220 Special Illustration Rare. Perrin, a skilled photographer from Sinnoh, debuts in The Teal Mask DLC of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Friendly and easygoing, she seeks the elusive Bloodmoon Beast after struggling to find joy in her career. She is a distant relative of Diamond Clan leader Adaman and owns a Hisuian Growlithe she calls "bud."

This card is illustrated by Gidora, and actually comes as part of a set of cards, the other being the Hisuian Growlithe #181. Each card is from the vantage point of the other, making them amazing binder buddies for any collector.

This card beautifully captures the vibrant energy of the Kitakami Festival of Masks, capturing the scenes of food, fun, and celebration that make it an easy choice for a top spot in the set.

Carmine is the older sister of Kieran, previously featured on this list at #6. This Carmine #217 SIR is created by En Morikura, who has almost exclusively illustrated female Trainers for the Pokemon TCG since Chilling Reign, including Caitlin, Aroma Lady, Gardenia, Parasol Lady, Shauntal, Bianca, Carmine, and Lisia. You could easily fill an entire binder page with Full Art Trainers by this artist alone.

The most expensive Pokemon card in Twilight Masquerade is the Greninja ex #214 Special Illustration Rare. This card features an array of vibrant colors and is illustrated by 5ban Graphics. Wait... 5ban actually landed the top spot? How about that!

Ask your average Pokemon TCG collector and most will agree that Greninja ex #214 is the standout card from Twilight Masquerade. While most cards tend to hit an unsustainable high price right at release, this was not the case for Greninja ex #214. This card has been in a steady climb since May when it launched in the $100-$150 price range. Some collectors have gone so far as to label Greninja ex #214 the Moonbreon of Scarlet & Violet.

We can't say for sure whether that will hold true - there was a time when Rainbow Pikachu VMAX was the standout from the Sword & Shield set, but it was surpassed when something bigger and better came around. That said, the rarity, card art, and popularity of this Pokemon is currently supporting the price, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the future.
