Top 10 Most Expensive Pokemon Cards From Evolving Skies

You would be hard pressed to find a modern Pokemon card collector who doesn't view Evolving Skies as an amazing set - or perhaps even the greatest set to come out of the Sword and Shield era to date. Just like Chilling Reign before it, Evolving Skies puts a lot of emphasis on Alternate Art cards, and with heavy hitters in the set like the Eeveelution line, Dragonite, and Rayquaza, you can imagine just how expensive some of these cards can be. If you can't - well, that's what we're here for!

Try your luck at pulling these cards from the following Pokemon card products:

#10. Espeon V Alternate Art Ultra Rare - 180/203

Any time Pokemon decides to put any of the Eeveelution line in a Pokemon card set, you can be sure that collectors everywhere will want to get their hands on it. We saw it with Hidden Fates years ago, and Evolving Skies is no different - only this time we have Alternate Art cards instead of Shiny Pokemon.

At #10 on this list we have our first Eeveelution with Espeon V Alternate Art. This is a very cleverly designed card demonstrating Espeon's psychic ability. It might be surprising to find Espeon so low on this list - but it is worth noting that this is a V Alternate Art card as opposed to a VMAX. There does seem to be a pretty big difference in terms of price discovery for these two types of Alternate Art cards as we will show with this list.

Espeon V Alternate Art #180/203 is currently valued around $55 at the time of writing.

#9. Glaceon V Alternate Art Ultra Rare - 175/203

Up at #9 we already have our next Pokemon in the Eeveelution line. Get used to it though, as the Eevee line makes up the majority of spots on this list. Glaceon V Alternate Art is a very artistic take on the Pokemon.

Rather than have Glaceon in a battle-ready stance as is often seen in Pokemon, this card depicts Glaceon in a snowy field, surrounded by trees and resting on a park bench. Alternate Art cards frequently portray the Pokemon as tranquil rather than combative, perhaps that's why people feel so drawn to these cards.

Glaceon V Alternate Art Ultra Rare #175/203 is currently valued around $56 at the time of writing.

#8. Dragonite V Alternate Art Ultra Rare - 192/203

At #8 we arrive at the first non-Eeveelution Pokemon on this list - and it's a fan favorite from Generation 1. Dragonite has long been a heavy hitter in the collectible community, with cards like the 1st Edition Holo Fossil Dragonite fetching over $4,000 in a PSA 10.

Dragonite V Alternate Art is another blissful take on a Pokemon - though Dragonite is typically depicted as a bit of a gentle giant. This card shows Dragonite essentially snoozing in the sky with a Fearow and several Spearow flying below (did you notice?).

Dragonite V Alternate Art Ultra Rare #192/203 is currently valued around $73 at the time of writing.

#7. Leafeon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare - 205/203

Didn't take long to arrive back at the Eevee line - but this is our first VMAX Alternate Art to make the list. At #7 we have one of our personal favorites from the set - Leafeon VMAX Alternate Art.

At #205/203 it is also the first Secret Rare to make the list. Leafeon is shown in Dynamax form playing with a hay bail like some kind of oversized house cat. If you are a cat lover you will probably feel a connection with this card.

Leafeon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare #205/203 is currently valued around $78 at the time of writing.

#6. Rayquaza V Alternate Art Ultra Rare - 194/203

Now this is a very cool card and happens to be our personal favorite from the set. Rayquaza is featured with Trainer Zinnia, who is also featured in Evolving Skies as a Full Art Trainer on the card Zinnia's Resolve.

The unique perspective of this Pokemon card allows us to get a good look at just how big Rayquaza is - and Zinnia's windblown tattered cape and the bright blue sky just captures a very powerful aesthetic. This card is just cool!

Rayquaza V Alternate Art Ultra Rare #194/203 is currently valued around $80 at the time of writing.

#5. Glaceon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare - 209/203

Glaceon VMAX Alternate Art is another fan favorite card from Evolving Skies, and it's really not too surprising - it's a very good looking card.

Glaceon VMAX Alternate Art features Glaceon in Dynamax form with several other Pokemon, including Pikachu, Pancham, Eevee, Feebas, Azumarill, and Marill. You may have to look closely to find all the Pokemon on this card.

Glaceon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare #209/203 is currently valued around $81 at the time of writing.

#4. Umbreon V Alternate Art Ultra Rare - 189/203

Here's a very unique card. At #4 we have the Umbreon V Alternate Art. This card has a very dark aesthetic, featuring Umbreon seemingly commanding an army of Pokemon - perhaps with nefarious deeds in mind. Maybe they are trying to capture the moon?

Trying to identify the Pokemon by their silhouettes on this card can be somewhat challenging. We can definitely make out Pinsir, Grimmsnarl, Flareon, and maybe Morgrem?

Umbreon V Alternate Art Ultra Rare #189/203 is currently valued around $82 at the time of writing.

#3. Sylveon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare - 212/203

You really can't say enough about the Alternate Art cards in Evolving Skies, and we love the variety of designs we get to see with all the different Eevee evolutions in this set. Sylveon VMAX Alternate Art is another fan favorite from Evolving Skies. Ah, who are we kidding, this set is made entirely of fan favorites.

This is another 'can you find all the Pokemon on this card' kind of artwork - with a giant Dynamax Sylveon and more than half a dozen bonus Pokemon to find. The Kangaskhan might be the hardest one to spot!

Sylveon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare #212/203 is currently valued around $90 at the time of writing.

#2. Rayquaza VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare - 218/203

Rayquaza VMAX Alternate Art used to be the most expensive card in this set - which is really not that surprising considering Rayquaza cards rarely have any trouble climbing in value. It is perhaps unexpected that it would take the #2 spot - though it isn't by a lot.

A number of reasons could contribute to this card taking the #2 spot, but the most likely explanation simply comes down to the artwork. This is a pretty cool card, but the collecting community definitely seems to have a preference for the card in the #1 spot. We certainly do.

Rayquaza VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare #218/203 is currently valued around $168 at the time of writing.

#1. Umbreon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare - 215/203

It's pretty surprising when a set can pull in values this high without a Charizard, and it is also a nice break from what has become somewhat standard.  There's nothing wrong with a good Charizard card, but there are definitely plenty of unique and cool Pokemon to feature on cards, and Umbreon is a great example of one.

This card is very cool. The color choices are fantastic, and the starry night-inspired art style achieves a level of artistry that isn't often seen in Pokemon cards. Sometimes Pokemon artists really outdo themselves, and Keiichiro Ito absolutely did just that with this card.

Pokemon has really been stepping up their game recently with the artwork on their Alternate Art cards, and we are hopeful that the trend will continue!

Umbreon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare #215/203 is currently valued around $200 at the time of writing.
