Top 10 Most Expensive Pokemon Cards from Fusion Strike

After the artwork featured in Chilling Reign and Evolving Skies was such a success, it became obvious that Alternate Art cards were going to be the future of the collectible Pokemon TCG world. Quick to put their best foot forward, Pokemon released Fusion Strike, a set with a primary focus on Mew, plus several popular Pokemon such as Gengar, Celebi, and Espeon. With a strong offering of Alternate Art cards and fan favorite Pokemon, Fusion Strike would follow the tried and true Pokemon recipe for success.

#10. Greedent V Alternate Art Ultra Rare - 257/264

Greedent V Alternate Art #257/264 Fusion Strike

Greedent V Alternate Art #257 is the first card to make our list for the top 10 most expensive cards from Fusion Strike. Although there does seem to be a fair amount of hatred for this greedy little rotund squirrel boy, we are personally fond of the artwork and love to see underrepresented Pokemon featured with special art.

The Alternate Art Greedent V #257 is illustrated by Saya Tsuruta, who notably brought us Yokohama's Pikachu 280/SM-P, one of the popular sailor themed Japanese promo cards, and one of our personal favorite promos!

Greedent V Alternate Art #257/264 is currently valued around $15 at the time of writing.

#9. Mew V Full Art Ultra Rare - 250/264

Mew is the primary feature in Fusion Strike, being represented on the booster box, elite trainer box, pack art, and of course numerous times in the set. It is rare for Full Art Pokemon to make the top 10 lists these days with so many Alternate Art cards to choose from, so having Mew Full Art at #9 is great to see.

Mew V Full Art #250/264 is currently valued around $17 at the time of writing.

#8. Genesect V Alternate Art Ultra Rare - 255/264

Introduced in Generation V - Genesect is a dual-type Bug / Steel Mythical Pokemon. The Genesect V Alternate Art card features fantastic artwork, showcasing a breakdancing Genesect in the forefront and a Smeargle chilling in the background. This is a very cool card and fan-favorite among many collectors.

Genesect V Alternate Art #255/264 is currently valued around $28 at the time of writing.

#7. Inteleon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare - 266/264

Just barely beating out the Genesect on this list by a couple of dollars is the Inteleon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare. As the final evolution of one of the Galarian starters, Inteleon has plenty of fans who might want this card.

The Inteleon VMAX Alternate Art features an awesome depiction of Gigantamax Inteleon, in sniper position, opening fire across an open landscape.

Inteleon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare #266/264 is currently valued around $30 at the time of writing.

#6. Celebi V Alternate Art Ultra Rare - 245/264

Fusion Strike has quite a few examples of excellent artwork within the Alternate Art category, but the Celebi V Alternate Art for us takes the cake. This card features Celebi with a wintery backdrop, with snow covered steps and a few trees springing to life as Celebi flies by, with green leaves popping out of the branches of the otherwise dormant trees.

This is in essence what we (and many other people as well) love about Alternate Art cards. Instead of featuring Pokemon in their typical battle positions (though even in Alt Arts this is sometimes the case) - We get to see the Pokemon in their normal environment and interacting with their surroundings in a way we normally don't see. This Celebi V Alternate Art is a great example of that.

Celebi V Alternate Art Ultra Rare #245/264 is currently valued around $33 at the time of writing.

#5. Mew VMAX Rainbow Secret Rare - 268/264

Mew makes the list once again - this time in Hyper Rare, Secret Rainbow form. In recent years, the Pokemon community has moved away from Rainbow Secret Rare cards in favor of Alternate Arts, so just like in the case of the Full Art Mew, this card being on our list is a bit surprising. The success of this card is in large part due to Mew being an important Pokemon in the current meta.

Mew VMAX Rainbow Secret Rare #268/264 is currently valued around $37 at the time of writing.

#4. Mew V Alternate Art Ultra Rare - 251/264

Mew makes the list again as the #4 most expensive Pokemon card in the Fusion Strike set, this time as an Alternate Art V. This is an excellent artwork done by Naoki Saito, an artist well renowned for their high quality illustrations, including some of our favorites like Mimikyu VMAX #TG17, Alola Friends, Reds Challenge, Blues Tactics, Lillie #151, and even the highly limited Post Malone V. This is a seriously talented artist.

Mew V Alternate Art Ultra Rare #251/264 is currently valued around $46 at the time of writing.

#3. Mew VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare - 269/264

Get ready for a massive jump in value for the top 3 cards on this list - And if it wasn't already clear that this set is a tribute to Mew, maybe the 4th Mew featured on this list will help to drive that point home.

Mew VMAX Alternate Art #269 is currently the 3rd most expensive card in the Fusion Strike set. The artwork features Mew lifting cars, buses, and other pieces of civilization around the Galar region. This behavior is slightly more chaotic than we are used to seeing from the Gen 1 Mythical Pokemon.

Mew VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare #269/264 is currently valued around $85 at the time of writing.

#2. Espeon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare - 270/264

Espeon VMAX 270/264 Alternate Art Secret Rare

Although Espeon was featured in Evolving Skies as an Alternate Art V - The VMAX Secret Rare version did not end up in Evolving Skies despite the set being regarded as the 'Eeveelutions Set' - Based on Eevee Heroes from Japan. Thankfully, we ended up getting this card in Fusion Strike shortly after.

This card features a Gigantamax Espeon, peacefully sleeping on top of a building in the town. This is one of a number of popular cards recently that feature sleeping Pokemon - Notably the Tyranitar from Battle Styles and the Dragonite from Evolving Skies.

Espeon VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare #270/264 is currently valued around $160 at the time of writing.

#1. Gengar VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare - 271/264

For a long time, the Espeon held the #1 spot as the most expensive card from Fusion Strike. In recent months, however, there has been a shift to Gengar VMAX taking the #1 spot as more collectors and members of the community seem to prefer this card.

It's not all that surprising, considering Gengar is one of the most popular Gen 1 Pokemon, and has been a big hitter from the early days (Fossil, Skyridge, Neo Destiny) and even in more recent sets (Team Up, Phantom Forces.)

Although Gengar appears to be unleashing a devastating attack, showcasing his menacing and threatening nature, when you look closely, it looks like all he is pulling in is berries and other food. Realistically, this is just a depiction of Gengar eating food. That's not scary at all, now is it?

Gengar VMAX Alternate Art Secret Rare #271/264 is currently valued around $170 at the time of writing.
