September 13th marks the official release of the Stellar Crown Pokémon TCG set! As the 7th main set in the Scarlet & Violet era, excitement has been growing ever since the release of the previous set, Shrouded Fable. While it's still early and prices are bound to fluctuate, we're diving in to explore the top 10 most expensive cards in Stellar Crown.

#10. Area Zero Underdepths #174 Hyper Rare

Area Zero Underdepths #174 Hyper Rare is currently valued around $18.02 at the time of writing.

At #10 on the list we have our first Secret Rare Gold card, the Area Zero Underdepths #174. We are happy to have a Gold Stadium card featured on this list, as these cards have historically been stunning to look at.

The Area Zero Underdepths is a large cavern 3,300 feet below Area Zero, accessible via the Zero Lab elevator with the Indigo Disk. Formed around 2 million years ago, the cavern is filled with Terastal crystals, and features a subterranean lake and a crystal-covered tree. Rock- and Ground-type Pokémon inhabit the area, and Terapagos once lived there before becoming nearly extinct.

#9. Terapagos ex #173 Hyper Rare

Terapagos ex #173 Hyper Rare is currently valued around $22.6 at the time of writing.

At #9 on the list of most expensive Pokemon cards in Stellar Crown, we have the first appearance of Terapagos, the mascot of the Indigo Disk DLC for the Scarlet & Violet games. On this Secret Rare gold card, Terapagos is shown in Stellar form, one of the three forms the Pokemon can take. Terapagos can also be found in Normal Form and Terastal Form.

This is the 2nd and final Secret Rare Gold card to make this list, though there is a 3rd Secret Rare Gold card in Stellar Crown. You can find the final Gold card from the set in the runner-ups at the bottom.

#8. Briar #171 Special Illustration Rare

Briar #171 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $28.75 at the time of writing.

Stellar Crown features 2 Special Illustration Rare Trainers, both of which manage to make it onto the list of most expensive cards from Stellar Crown. At #8 we have the Special Illustration Rare Briar.

Briar is introduced in the Teal Mask DLC for the Scarlet & Violet video games as a descendent of Heath, the author of the Scarlet & Violet books. Briar aims to find the Pokemon Terapagos to add credibility to Heath's findings.

#7. Dachsbun ex #169 Special Illustration Rare

Dachsbun ex #169 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $30.64 at the time of writing.

The next card to make the list is the Dachsbun ex #169 Special Illustration Rare. Dachsbun is a Gen-9 Fairy-type Pokemon that resembles both a dog and... well... baked goods.

In fact, there is speculation that the design of the Pokemon is meant to be a pun of purebred / purebread. As a Special Illustration Rare, the pull rate of this exact card is estimated to be approximately 1 in 540 packs.

#6. Galvantula ex #168 Special Illustration Rare

Galvantula ex #168 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $30.78 at the time of writing.

Here is a cool card for a Pokemon that has been largely under-represented in Pokemon TCG history. Galvantula has rarely (if ever) received a valuable card in a set, and there are two Galvantula ex cards in Stellar Crown that carry at least some premium, though the other one doesn't quite make this list.

This card by Marina Chikazawa is truly mesmerizing to look at, and considering they have only been illustrating for the Pokemon TCG since Twilight Masquerade, we can surely expect to see more amazing artworks from this talented new artist in the future.

#5. Bulbasaur #143 Illustration Rare

Bulbasaur #143 Illustration Rare is currently valued around $31.78 at the time of writing.

What great fortune to find that we have Gen-1 starters making an appearance on this list. If Pokemon-151 is anything to go by, we should expect to see these cards remain strong in the set.

This is a great card, featuring Bulbasaur lounging next to an open window alongside a pair of Pidgeys. We doubt this Bulbasaur has Solar Beam, so we'll assume he is taking in sunlight for the simple joy of it.

#4. Hydrapple ex #167 Special Illustration Rare

Hydrapple ex #167 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $33.93 at the time of writing.

Now we break into the top 4 most expensive cards in Stellar Crown with the Special Illustration Rare Hydrapple ex #167. This card showcases a painting of Hydrapple on a worn wall, like something you might see on a tapestry in a Zelda game. He is surrounded by several Applins, the first form in the evolution line.

Hydrapple is a Grass/Dragon type Pokemon introduced in the Indigo Disk in Gen-9. Hydrapple is composed of 7 syrpents, of which only typically 3-5 heads are visible. They live within the apple that is comprised entirely of syrup. Perhaps the most unique Pokemon to ever be imagined.

#3. Squirtle #148 Illustration Rare

Squirtle #148 Illustration Rare is currently valued around $42.62 at the time of writing.

Just as Bulbasaur was featured at #5, Squirtle also makes the list with the Illustration Rare #148 at #3. We can see the card features a group of Pidgeys just like the Bulbasaur card, clearly tying the themes together

If you are waiting on the Charmander to arrive on this list, however, you might be a bit disappointed. If Charmander was in the set in the same style as these 2, it would certainly make the list. However, the corresponding Charmander card already made an appearance as a black star promo, #SVP044. Be sure to pick up the Charmander if you want the complete binder row!

#2. Lacey #172 Special Illustration Rare

Lacey #172 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $44.97 at the time of writing.

At #2 on the list of most expensive Stellar Crown cards, we finally arrive at the other Special Illustration Rare Trainer, Lacey. After having featured Briar at #8, it may be surprising that there is such an enormous gap in price between the two.

Lacey is a character introduced in The Indigo Disk expansion of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. A second-year student at Blueberry Academy, she is also a member of the BB League Elite Four and specializes in Fairy-type Pokémon. Although Lacey is the primary focus of the card, you can also see Crispin, Drayton, and Amarys are featured on the card.

#1. Terapagos ex #170 Special Illustration Rare

Terapagos ex #170 Special Illustration Rare is currently valued around $116.54 at the time of writing.

The most expensive Pokemon card in Stellar Crown currently is the Terapagos ex Special Illustration Rare #170. It showcases Terapagos in Stellar form just like the card at #9, and is illustrated by Saboteri, another new Pokemon TCG artist with only 11 cards currently under their belt.

Although Saboteri only illustrated 3 cards for Stellar Crown, they still managed to get 2 of the 3 featured on this list, with the Squirtle at #3 being their other big hit. We are optimistic about the new artists that have been brought on by Pokemon in the past year, and look forward to their future artworks!
